Most casinos use chips weighing between 8.5g and 10g. The most common casino chip weight is around 10g. Heavier chips (11.5g-14g) are popular for home games as they feel more substantial, though weight doesn't necessarily indicate quality.

Clay chips are premium, with a textured feel and satisfying sound — closest to what casinos use. Composite (clay-filled) chips are more affordable and durable, made from a plastic-clay mix. Both are suitable for home games, but clay chips provide the most authentic experience.
